In this talk an introduction into the physics of quantum
information will be given. Fundamental concepts such as
entanglement as a resource, quantum teleportation, quantum cryptography and the 
Shor algorithm for prime
factorization will be explained. Finally, the problem
of entanglement versus separability will be discussed.
