Boundary entropy of  boundaries in one-dimensional critical systems
was defined by I. Affleck and A. Ludwig in 1991. A classic example of
such systems is a conduction defect at low temperature as described by the
Kondo model. Boundary entropy has a number of peculiar properties, for
example it can be negative. In this talk we will discuss how this
quantity is defined and what are its known properties.
