|
We offer a PhD position in biological physics in the research groups
of
Michael Lässig and
Johannes Berg
at the Institute of Theoretical Physics.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working in an international team at the interface between statistical physics and quantitative biology. Current research topics include gene expression and the statistics of biological sequences and networks, and they involve collaboration with experimentalists. Applicants should have a strong background in statistical physics and a genuine interest in biology. The Institute of Theoretical Physics has strong research interest in statistical physics and 3 groups working at the interface between physics and quantitative biology (groups of J. Krug, M. Lässig, and J. Berg). There are strong ties with experimental groups at the Institute for Genetics within the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 680 "Molecular Basis of Evolutionary Innovations". The fourth largest German city, Cologne offers a wide range of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities.
