Since March 2015 I am the group leader of this Emmy-Noether-research group working on "Topological order from strong correlations". In 2016, I was granted the Max Delbrück Prize for junior researchers of the University of Cologne for outstanding research. My field of research is condensed matter theory with focus on strongly correlated quantum phases and the emergence of topological order. Before coming to Cologne in September 2012 to work jointly in the groups of Alexander Altland and Simon Trebst, I was a Postdoc with B. Andrei Bernevig at Princeton university, working on entanglement in topological systems. My PhD years in Thors Hans Hanssons group at Stockholm university were mainly spent on the conformal field theory description of ground states and quasiparticle excitations of Abelian and non-Abelian quantum Hall liquids.

I am currently working on fractional quantum Hall states and Kitaev spin liquids. Before starting my postdoc at Universität zu Köln in Jan 2017, I was a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where for my PhD thesis, I primarily worked on a semiclassical description of gauge anomalies under Prof. Michael Stone. During my grad school, I also worked on various problems involving noninteracting topological phases, esp. Weyl semimetals. Other ongoing research interests, in an increasing order of extravagance, include entanglement in noninteracting system, phase space and other semiclassical descriptions, geometric quantization and applications of homological algebra in physics.
