How to apply for the Honors branch for PhD students

A second round of admissions to the honors branch is specific to PhD students already working in Bonn or Cologne. Application is open to all physics PhD students at Bonn and Cologne, irrespective of their previous affiliation with the BCGS. Applications must be made no later than 18 months after the beginning of PhD studies.

The deadlines for application are September 1, January 10, May 1. Interviews are held
about four weeks later.

Application materials

• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Summary of progress made during the first PhD year; 2-3 page proposal outlining the planned thesis research project
• Preprints of publications (if any)
• At least one letter of recommendation (usually by a member of the thesis advisory committee), preferably two such letters.
• MSc transcript and degree (if applicable)
  

The CV should contain enough information for the PhD starting date to be verifiable.
