Abstract
Title: "The Nonlinear Essence of Gravitational Waves"
Abstract:
Relying on the gauge structure of
teleparallel gravity, which allows a more direct
comparison with the electromagnetic and Yang-Mills
theories, a re-analysis of gravitational wave theory
is made. In particular, a study of the energy and
momentum carried by gravitational waves is presented.
Analogously to a Yang-Mills propagating field, which
must be nonlinear to carry its gauge charge, it is
argued that a gravitational wave must necessarily be
nonlinear to transport its own charge, that is, energy
and momentum.
